About This Place

Located in the vibrant heart of Kuching, Sarawak, IG Ais Kacang Gambier stands out as a must-visit restaurant for anyone eager to indulge in authentic Malaysian flavors with a delightful local twist. Specializing in traditional Sarawakian and Malaysian fare, this gem offers a feast that excites both the eyes and palate. From the moment you step in, the inviting aroma of rich spices and freshly brewed kopi fills the air, hinting at the culinary delights to come.

The menu is a beautiful homage to Sarawak’s diverse flavors. Their signature AIS ABC, known as the award-winning "Coolest ABC," is a sensory masterpiece: layers of shaved ice draped with red beans, cendol, grass jelly, sago pearls, and luxuriously silky evaporated milk, all crowned with their famed gula apong ice cream and sweet gula apong syrup. Each spoonful delivers a refreshing, sweet, and creamy harmony that is impossible to resist. For those seeking a fruity alternative, the I.G. Special White Lady with Mango Ice Cream layers tropical longan, lychee, pineapple cubes, and fruit jelly under a rose syrup drizzle, providing a uniquely fragrant and indulgent dessert experience.

IG Ais Kacang Gambier doesn’t stop at desserts. Their savory dishes shine just as brightly. The Best Seller Nasi Lemak 12 Jam Ayam Berempah features tender, slow-cooked spiced chicken brimming with deep, aromatic flavors that meld perfectly with fragrant coconut rice. Meanwhile, the Mee Kolok with Signature Crispy Chicken Charsiu offers a delightful contrast of textures—the silky noodles paired with crispy, caramelized chicken and savory charsiu sauce create a wholeheartedly satisfying meal. For fans of bold, spicy kicks, the Mee Belachan Special with Century Egg delivers a smoky, fiery punch accentuated by the rich umami of century eggs.

For beverage enthusiasts, the drinks menu is a treasure trove. The Kopi AIS Gula Apong and the range of Milo variants, including the indulgently rich Milo Volcano Kaw Kaw, provide comfort and energy in every sip. The iced coffee and Teh C Special 3 Layer drinks add a delightful balance between boldness and creaminess, perfectly complementing the heavier dishes.

The dining setup at IG Ais Kacang Gambier is unpretentious and welcoming, offering a clean environment where the food is the star. Ordering is simple and interactive—guests fill out an order form, adding an engaging layer to the experience that highlights the place’s authentic, no-fuss approach to traditional dining. While some customers have noted the slightly lively pace of staff attending to orders, this hardly detracts from the overall warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s clear that the staff work hard to serve up each dish with care.

Real diners rave about the restaurant’s Sarawak Laksa, praising its rich and comforting broth, a true testament to the region’s culinary heritage. The viral No 1 Gula Apong Pudding, with over 10,000 sales monthly, is another highlight that melds local ingredients and creative desserts perfectly. Even adventurous eaters will appreciate the traditional dishes, such as the hearty Bubur Ayam I.G., a smooth chicken porridge garnished with crispy shallots and delicate spring onions—a bowl of pure comfort.

In summary, IG Ais Kacang Gambier is a vibrant culinary spot where tradition meets innovation, serving authentic Sarawakian and Malaysian dishes with a twist of creativity and a focus on local flavors. Whether you are craving a cooling sweet treat after a day exploring Kuching or seeking a filling, flavorful meal, this restaurant offers an inviting taste journey that lingers long after the last bite.

Decent traditional food, you receive a piece of paper and write down what you want and what quantities

The sambal paru is quite hard to bite, the toast and egg pudding are really good. Overall it’s good!

A very good place to try the Gula Apong Ice cream. We tried a few dishes too. Nothing exceptional but the ice cream... amazing. We also tried a few but my favourite is the one that actually has more ice cream Don't try the mango ice cream... We didn't like: the non stop bipping sound of the machine receiving orders and the guys not picking it up. Best to sit far away. Other than that the staff was helpful and friendly.

First of all : the store is nice, the prices are lower then you would guess from the first look and the food is delicious The only reason why I am not rating with five stars is the system of buying ratings. If you rate the restaurant with 5 stars, they will give you free coconut pudding dessert which is very tasty. I find it smart if business rewards the customers for providing feedback, I just don't agree with insisting on 5 stars, since this can distort the real image of the restaurant

Food - Ordered nasi lemak. It was good. You know, coming from WM, finding nasi lemak that fits your taste is kinda hard here in EM. So the taste is good. Also ordered keropok lekor on the sides. Service - Had to give a 4 because the cashier didn't key in my complete order. Had to order again for my friend's food. This place has cards, QR and cash payment option. Atmosphere - Pretty nice decor. I like it
